Bio
BEACON stands for Belonging, Encouragement, Awareness, Community, Opportunity, and Nourishment and these values guide everything that we do.
Founded and led by students attending Haas Hall Academy, BEACON is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the unhoused community through service and awareness initiatives. At BEACON we believe that every person deserves the chance to belong, grow, and thrive. Our focus is on bringing encouragement, support, and economic opportunity to the unhoused community. Everyone deserves a chance, no matter their circumstances.
Our work focuses on meeting immediate needs while building long-term pathways toward stability. Through collaboration with New Beginnings homeless shelter and student volunteers, we provide resources such as education and access to support services as well as provided service opportunities for local high school students.
BEACON is different because of our emphasis on student leadership and community integration. We empower the youth to take ownership of meaningful service projects, develop leadership skills, and create solutions that are both innovative and practical. By outsourcing initiatives to motivated students and partnering with established institutions, we bridge the gap between intention and impact.
We created BEACON to remind people they are not invisible. We aim to be a steady light that points toward hope, opportunity, and belonging.
Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate community.
